Class Assignment Policy

 CLASS ASSIGNMENT POLICY  Â
Our staff is beginning to think about classroom assignments for next year.  When making placement assignments, the priority is to deliver quality education to all West Woodland students.

Each child’s characteristics are reviewed by the staff with the goal of developing equally balanced classrooms through placement.  The main characteristics taken into consideration are learning styles, abilities/disabilities in learning, gender, and behavioral issues.

The grade level team with input from other staff will review this information and select the class they feel is most appropriate for each child.

If you would like to provide additional information on your child’s educational needs, learning styles and/or behavioral issues, you may write a letter to his/her current teacher.  Submit this letter no later than May 21st so that it may be included as part of the decision making process.  Parent input will be an important part of the consideration process but not determine placement.  We do not take requests for specific teachers.

Please note that final class decisions and teacher assignment will not be made until late in August and will be posted at the main entry doors the week before school starts.  Changes will not be made after students have been assigned to their classes.

This policy was developed by the Advisory Council and West Woodland staff.  If you need more information, please contact the office.
