Welcome to the new webpage for the West Woodland Computer
Lab. You will find some new pages along with the old favorites. Please
click on a link to the left and enjoy your visit. I have explored many sites
on the Web and have found some great games to help students enjoy the
adventures of learning. I have put together a directory of these websites
in my “Fun & Games” page. There are many subjects to study and it
creates a wonderful tool for research. I hope you explore the links and use
the research tools available. There is something for everyone. Many
teachers, parents, and students of all ages use this site daily. Enjoy the
Internet, but always surf responsibly. Many sites have links to chat rooms.
Never give personal information to a stranger. If you are under age, always
make sure an adult knows what you are doing on the computer. Never go
online without your parent’s approval. Be smart!

sites, and are not part of

Lab Hours: Monday
– Friday Tuesday
& Thursday We are starting our fourth year of the CDL program. If you were registered in the program last year you will automatically be registered for the new school year. If you would like a new picture on your license, just come into the lab before or after school and let me know. If you did not register last year, you can stop by the computer lab and pick up an enrollment form. This program is completely optional and should not interfere with the regular school curriculum.
The CDL program consists of six levels of ability with six exams in each level. To advance to the next level, you must complete all six exams in the previous level. Members will receive a certificate of ability after every completed level. The goal is to give a basic understanding of computers to students, teachers, and parents as a tool for greater learning.
The computer lab will be open every morning before school and 2 days per week after school (Tues. & Thurs.) for taking exams. Studying to complete the exams is all self-motivated. It is completely up to the member to advance through the levels. If a member does not know how to pass an exam, a tutorial can be taken to show the basic knowledge to pass that exam. If a tutorial is taken, the member cannot take the exam until the next scheduled day. The program operates on a first-come first-served (take a number) basis. There may be a time when there are too many members at once to have all take an exam or go through a tutorial. For those members who arrived on time and were not able to take an exam, we will give a “Wild Card” to be used the next time they attend the program. A member with a “Wild Card” will be the next served when shown to an instructor. If the computer lab is full and there are no more seats available, computers will go to students doing school work first and then to CDL members working on a test. I reserve the right to remove any student behaving badly or disrupting the class.
Parents and teachers are always encouraged to join in on the fun. Volunteers are always welcome.
Have fun and make it a family experience everyone will enjoy. See you in the computer lab.
