The Washington State Legislature does not provide funding for full day kindergartens. The fees above are calculated to cover only the actual operational costs of the classroom, plus the costs of reducing the class size from 28 to 22 students. Parent request, our strategic plan, and educational research support the belief that students perform better academically and socially when class size is reduced in the early grades.
To keep costs minimal, no billing statements will be issued. Parents are expected to submit a monthly check ($220), payable to West Woodland Elementary, by the 5th of each month. Payments are due for the months of September through June (10 total). Parents may also opt to: 1) pay entire amount by September 5, or make three payments due September 5, December 5 and March 5. Checks can be given or mailed to the Main Office in care of Marty Phelps Head Secretary.
Delinquent payments will result in: 1) a reminder letter from the school,
2) a referral to a collection agency, and 3) a possible student transfer from full day to half day. Interest charges for late payments may be added for fees over 30 days late.
