malang@seattleschools.org The Week In Review It happens every year—you reach this time of year and wonder how things
will all get done by June 17! Here are
some of the highlights from the week. In math we have been busy with end of year assessments. The students took the Everyday Math Unit 11
assessment at the beginning of the week and the End of Year assessment on
Friday. We will spend these last few
weeks of school doing a variety of math activities, including extensions of
previously learned concepts, math projects, games, and some lessons from the This week we started planning for a Photostory slide show that will be
put on the school website. The
students will be narrating over pictures of their work with author Claire
Meeker, focusing on the steps of the writing process. Thanks to Ms. King for
helping our class get this project going. In science, the students have been working with the concept of a fair
test. They made peg board harps to
test how tension and string thickness affect pitch. A reminder that student-made instruments
are due on June 4th—let me know if you have any questions about
this project. Students completed their mixed-media collages based on the work of Romare
Bearden this week—thank you Jennifer Paris for leading our art lessons! This and That *Don’t forget recorders on Thursday. *No spelling next week due to the short week. *Play: This was the last week for play practice with
scripts. Students are expected to know
their lines for next week! We could
use several parents to help paint nametags and a big sign for the play. Let me know if you would like to help with
that. *Along with the play, students are excited to learn
about the solar system. Here are a couple
