Classroom Rules

  2. Respect the school's equipment, other students' property, and your own belongings.
  3. Listen to and follow all directions.
  4. Actively listen when others are speaking or sharing.
  5. Be considerate of other people's feelings.

Communication

The best way to communicate with me is through email (bjlangley@seattleschools.org) During the school day, please call the office. They will take a message, and I will contact you. It helps if you give enough details, so that I can do the necessary research and call you as soon as I can.

The binder will also serve as a primary communication tool. Please check it on a regular basis!

I also have a very open classroom. You are welcome to visit anytime. If you would like to have a conference, I will be happy to set up a time to meet with you. It is very important to me that we communicate regularly about your students. You are the most important person in your child's education, and I would greatly appreciate your input.

Homework Policy

Homework is an important part of any classroom. Homework will be given most days in 4th and 5th grade. WE WILL COMPLETE A HOMEWORK AGENDA DAILY! These pink sheets will detail the assignments and give parents any necessary notices on the back. Occasionally ther will also be long term projects assigned. Parents and students will recieve a sheet detailing these projects separate from the normal homework.

Students will also have a calendar to be kept in their binder. We will use this to make note of assignments and projects.

It is crucial to their success that they learn the discipline of working through assignments every night.

WASL

Yes! Students will take the WASL again this year in Math and Reading and Writing. Additionally we will be completing a more formal assessment in Social Studies in the area of civics. These assessments are simply ways for students to show what they have learned and what they can apply. Remember to relax and do your best at all times!
